Last Friday we attended the 2025 TasICT Excellence awards with our good friends from the Tas Land Conservancy. It was a great night had by all and we are proud to share that we took home the Best ICT Initiative or Collaboration award for our work with Metro Tasmania.

The Real-time Passenger Information System was recognised as a major leap forward for public transport in Tasmania. Built in close collaboration with Metro Tasmania, the Department of State Growth, Loop Foundry and Mattersoft, the project uses real-time data from Metro’s entire fleet to show live bus arrivals via the updated Metro app.

It’s a great example of what can be achieved with a shared goal, a clear vision, and a genuinely collaborative approach. From day one, the focus was on delivering a seamless experience for passengers, and doing so in under six months.
A special thanks to Graham Freeman and Damian Shirley from Metro Tasmania, Jack Scott from Loop Foundry, and Steuart Milne and Russell Goslin from DSG for their partnership throughout.

And thank you to TasICT for another fantastic awards night — and for continuing to celebrate the strength of Tasmania’s digital community.
