Recycle Rewards is Tasmania’s statewide container deposit scheme, designed to reduce litter, increase recycling, and support our beautiful natural environment.

Launched on May 1, 2025, the scheme provides a 10-cent refund for every eligible beverage container returned to a designated refund point. This initiative aims to significantly decrease the volume of drink containers in litter (currently 45% of litter by volume) by up to half and double the recycling rates for these containers, fostering a circular economy in Tasmania.

We worked with a range of private, government and industry stakeholders to design and deliver the digital face of the program. We integrated with container databases and barcoding systems, applied 3rd party API driven mapping data to allow users to find and use recycling locations and we created a lookup scheme for charity partners so that container refunds can be donated to your local good cause.
