While rebranding and developing the new Purple Orange website, people with disability were at the heart of every decision. We built the platform with them, not just for them.

A brand and website to match Purple Orange’s impact

JFA Purple Orange is a leading voice in disability advocacy in Australia. Their work covers research, storytelling, community projects, and practical resources. But their website wasn’t keeping pace. It needed to reflect the lived experience of the people it exists to serve.

They asked us to build something better. A welcoming, easy-to-use site shaped by the disability community from the ground up. Their brand needed a refresh while we were at it!

The JFA Purple Orange Co-Design Committee were partners throughout. Their insights guided decisions at every level, from site structure to how content is written and presented.

Designing for clarity and confidence

We restructured the site around simplicity and easy navigation. Clear headings, predictable layouts, and straightforward pathways help users find what they need without friction.

We paid close attention to cognitive accessibility, reducing clutter, avoiding jargon, and creating layouts that support focus. The aim was to help people find information quickly, understand it clearly, and act independently.

Accessibility built in from the start

Technical accessibility was a foundation, not an afterthought. We built the site with semantic HTML, clear form structure, and strong keyboard support. Screen reader users can move through content with ease.

A full accessibility audit was part of the process, making sure the site works well for everyone across devices and assistive technologies.

A platform built to last

Built on WordPress with AWS cloud hosting, the site is reliable and easy for the JFA Purple Orange team to manage. It’s designed to grow with their mission over time.

The result is a site that feels intuitive for everyone because it was shaped by the people who use it. We’re proud to have worked alongside the JFA Purple Orange co-design team to build a platform that supports independence, community, and lasting impact.
